O Glorioso adotou tom de crítica na nota e afirmou que o CEO abdicou do cargo quase imediatamente após a concretização da SAF.

CONFIRA O POSICIONAMENTO OFICIAL DO BOTAFOGO

SAF Botafogo”.

Liverpool now eyeing up move to sign "superb" £66m+ star likened to Neymar

Liverpool are closing in on the Premier League title, so it won’t be a surprise to hear that Arne Slot already has one eye on potential deals come the summer window.

Liverpool set to build on impending Premier League title

Unless a series of unlikely events occur, Liverpool will win their second title of the Premier League era and supporters will finally be there to witness the trophy presentation after missing out during the global pandemic.

On the flipside, the mood has been soured slightly among the fanbase following news of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s impending free transfer move to Real Madrid. The academy graduate isn’t the only one who could leave under freedom of contract, with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah yet to commit to extensions.

Conceivably, reinforcements will be needed regardless of outgoings. Leaning into that theme, Jonathan David is on Liverpool’s radar and may arrive on a free transfer to supplement their forward line.

Another renowned name the Reds have been credited with interest in is Jeremie Frimpong. Bayer Leverkusen won’t want to let him go, though they may be left powerless due to his £34 million release clause.

Coming into next season as likely champions will be a different type of pressure for Liverpool to deal with. Slot has dealt magnificently with every top-flight challenge thrown at him so far, though he may feel a tinge of disappointment at not winning the Carabao Cup before the international break.

Strength in numbers is needed to stake a claim across multiple competitions, so supporters will be excited to hear that their club are in the mix to sign a talented centre-forward making waves across Europe.

Liverpool want to sign Eintracht Frankfurt star Hugo Ekitike

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool have positioned themselves to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt and it remains to be seen if they will meet the Bundesliga outfit’s £66.9 million price tag for the in-form striker.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle and West Ham are also in the mix for the France Under-21 international following his return of 19 goals and nine assists in 39 appearances this term, with the Reds seemingly viewing him as a possible replacement for Darwin Nunez.

Labelled “superb” by Jacek Kulig, Ekitike has also been likened to Neymar by former Netherlands international Wesley Sneijder, illustrating how prominent figures in football circles view his scope to develop.

Taking on 93 shots during league duty, the former Paris Saint-Germain ace has directed 37 on target and, in addition, fashioned 36 chances for his teammates.

Liverpool could be set for a transitional summer in the forward areas and Ekitike could be the ideal high-profile reference point for the likes of Salah, if he stays, and Luis Diaz to feed come the start of next season.

Stokes 'comfortable' with prospect of England players turning down central contracts

“If a person makes a decision because they think it’s not only best for themselves but also the future and security of their family, then it’s very hard to disagree with that”

Matt Roller07-Sep-2023Ben Stokes described himself as “very comfortable” with the idea that England men’s players could turn down central contracts in order to maximise their earning potential in franchise leagues, after Mark Wood hinted he could miss the Test tour to India next year to fulfil a lucrative contract to play in the ILT20 in the UAE.England’s central contracts are up for renewal next month, with ECB chief executive Richard Gould pledging earlier this year that the system would be overhauled. He described contracting as “an existential issue” and suggested that match fees would have to be increased to ensure that England can regularly field full-strength sides. The ECB are also expected to offer some players multi-year deals to tie them down for a longer period than the usual 12 months, though the board does not have an unlimited supply of money and some of the recommendations from the Independent Commission for Equity in Cricket (ICEC) report will prove expensive.Wood – who turns 34 in January – told the on Wednesday that he would have to “wait and see” what he was offered before deciding whether to tour India for five Tests or play the full season of the ILT20 for Dubai Capitals, though clarified that turning down a central contract is “not on my radar at the minute”.”I want to play for England as long as I can, but it just depends on what they say, what they want me to do, and how they view the structure going forwards,” Wood said. “Playing both [the ILT20 and the India Tests] is not a viable option for England… I will wait and see what happens with the upcoming central contracts and then make a decision from there.”Stokes is part of Team England Player Partnership (TEPP), the body that looks after the interests of England men’s players, in his capacity as Test captain, and said that he had no choice but to be “understanding” if players decided to make sure of “the opportunities that are presented now”.Mark Wood could miss the Test tour of India in 2024 to honour a £500,000 contract with Dubai Capitals•Getty ImagesSpeaking ahead of his return to ODI cricket against New Zealand on Friday, Stokes said: “We know now that the whole landscape of cricket is changing. That is great for the individuals who are still within the game but also the guys who are coming through. The opportunities that are presented now for cricketers are amazing, and it’s great for the sport.”The more opportunities that come, the more people will be attracted to the sport and trying to make a career out of it. Everyone’s at a different point in their life, not just in their career, where other things have to be thought about by the individual. If a person makes a decision because they think it’s not only best for themselves but also the future and security of their family then it’s very hard to disagree with that.”We’ve got to understand, and I’ve got to understand as a captain, that there might be some decisions players make and I’m very comfortable and aware that something like that might happen. But it’s up to the individual and I think having a good and clear understanding that the landscape of cricket is changing in front of our eyes very quickly makes things like this a bit more easy to understand, if players were to choose to do something like that.”Regarding Wood, he told the BBC: “Someone who bowls 95mph, it would be very hard not to say, ‘yeah come and play this game… I understand why you are doing that, with the opportunity it gives you and your life after cricket.’ It’s tough not to. I think it’s going to happen more and more, if I am honest with you. Those opportunities weren’t available to people five or 10 years ago.”[We] need to think about the long-term effect it will have on our sport. It’s only going to be good for the game, that more people are attracted to play the game. We want people playing cricket. Participation levels have gone up on the back of this summer. You want people watching the sport.”The ILT20 is due to take place between January 19 and February 18, clashing directly with the first three Tests of England’s tour to India. Joe Root and Chris Woakes are among the other England Test regulars under contract for the tournament.

Handscomb half-century helps Victoria beat Tasmania

An aggressive Peter Handscomb half-century has helped Victoria grind to a three-wicket win against Tasmania in the first round of the Marsh Cup.Chasing 225, Handscomb top-scored with 51 from 42 balls as Victoria reached 229 for 7 with 31 balls to spare despite an outstanding all-round display Tasmania’s Beau Webster, who made 83 and took 2 for 17 to give the visitors a chance.Tasmania’s top-order batters got bogged down against a disciplined Victorian attack on a tacky early season surface – all out on the last ball of their 50 overs for 224 – at the Junction Oval in Melbourne.Handscomb, along with opener Tom Rogers, deliberately avoided the same trap in their run chase. Rogers struck five fours and a six in making 45 from 49 balls and laid a solid platform. Although he fell in the 19th over, Victoria were well-placed at 110 for 3.Handscomb’s knock featured seven fours and a six before emerging 20-year-old left-hander Campbell Kellaway played a composed hand making 46 from 71. Will Sutherland sealed victory with an unbeaten cameo of 29 runs from 20 balls, including a six to finish the match.Tasmania’s Billy Stanlake and Webster were the only multiple wicket-takers, although Riley Meredith bowled a lightning spell downwind to finish with 1 for 29 from 10 overs.Earlier, the Tigers’ top-order batters struggled against some miserly seam bowling from Scott Boland and Fergus O’Neill. Boland took 2 for 30 from his 10 overs while O’Neill took 1 for 36 including a maiden.Opener Caleb Jewell was out in the fifth over, as Boland, from around the wicket, enticed an outside edge to Sutherland who completed a sharp ankle-high catch at second slip. Two balls later, in a fresh Boland over, the paceman trapped Mac Wright lbw for a duck and Jordan Silk soon followed. Jake Weatherald, opening for the Tigers for the first time since leaving South Australia, made 28 from 61 deliveries but fell to Sam Elliott.Weatherald’s dismissal left Tasmania wobbling at 72 for four in the 23rd over. Webster answered the crisis call, hitting nine fours and a six in an impressive counter-punch despite Test offspinner Todd Murphy conceding only 32 runs from his 10 wicketless overs.Webster was supported by Matthew Wade and Mitchell Owen as he lifted the Tigers to 224, helped by a late flurry from Sam Rainbird. But they were 30 to 40 runs short in the end.

USWNT player ratings vs. Ireland: Everything comes up Roses for Lavelle, as star thrills with goal and assist in long-anticipated return, sealing easy win for Emma Hayes' side

Lavelle makes grand return, one of four different players to score as Emma Hayes' side rack up comfortable win over Ireland

The USWNT were less than perfect in the first half. Still, in Rose Lavelle's return, they got the perfect ending.

The USWNT rolled past Ireland, 4-0, on Thursday night just outside of Denver, highlighted by four different goal scorers. Head coach Emma Hayes once again experimented with new players in the starting lineup, and it once again worked.

It's all is all about balance for Hayes, who clearly puts a lot of thought into how she's spacing and lining up her team. Defensively, there is leadership and experience in Emily Sonnett and Naomi Girma, which allows for creativity out wide.

Thus, Hayes includes a fearless Avery Patterson on one wing and an up-and-coming Lilly Reale – getting her first USWNT cap – on the other side. Now, in the midfield it's a similar situation. Hayes always relies on Sam Coffey as one of the holding mids. Coffey is not only reliable, but she's a visionary and helps piece together the entire puzzle of the game.

Next to Coffey was Claire Hutton, who at 19 is playing well beyond her years. And in the most exciting turn of events, Lavelle made her return to the field – having last played for the USWNT in December, out more than six months with an injury – and was placed in the attacking center mid role. She danced right back into her spot, combining, attacking, and even scored her 25th international career goal.

Up top, Hayes continues to experiment with the No .9 spot. When Catarina Macario is on the roster, it's been her, but it was exciting to see Hayes try Ally Sentnor in that spot. While Sentnor didn't score – very unlike her – she still created all kinds of trouble for Ireland's backline. She had great off-of-the-ball movement and connected lots of of quick passes in the final-third.

Without her vision and speedy play, Lavelle's second-half goal wouldn't have happened. Alyssa Thompson and Michelle Cooper played their outside attacking roles much better as the game went on. Thompson and Cooper were both handed several balls out wide on the platter, but couldn't seem to finish. As the game went on, they found their rhythm and Thompson got a goal to close out the 4-0 win for the USWNT.

As the second half progressed, Hayes turned to the bench to make some changes – including 18-year-old Jordyn Bugg, who earned her debut for the senior team, subbing in for Naomi Girma in the 78th minute. With two more friendlies in the next week, this was a great finish for the USWNT, even if the first-half was a bit dicey.

    Goalkeeper & Defense

Claudia Dickey (7/10): One save, but a clean sheet. Not a bad debut, but also not a very captivating one for the Seattle Reign FC keeper, who earned her first cap.

Lilly Reale (7/10): She didn't have a ton of pressure defensively, but made the best of her first cap, connecting her passes, distributing well, and getting up the flank.

Naomi Girma (8/10): Even if it's a slow game in the back, Girma still manages to make every pass, keep her line composed, and make the game look effortless.

Emily Sonnett (8/10): She and Girma are the center-back duo we all need. Sonnet is a shutdown defender who balances out perfectly next to Girma. She didn't have a lot of defending to do against Ireland, but still took care of the ball.

Avery Patterson (9/10): Made the most out of her third start for the USWNT. While she didn't do much on the defensive side of the ball, her impact up the pitch was flawless. She not only scored her first international goal, but played incredibly high, creating all kinds of problems for Ireland's backline.

    Midfield

Sam Coffey (8/10): In case you didn't know, Coffey is a goalscorer. Her presence in the midfield was essential. Coffey not only plays composed and smart in the midfield, but she also has a vision a step ahead most. She was able to weave together each line, and when she wasn't just keeping possession or pinging the ball effortlessly, she was pushing her game to the next level by getting involved in the final-third.

Claire Hutton (7/10): Just 19, she and plays like she's been next to Coffey and Lavelle since, forever. Hutton is a very balanced, vision-forward midfielder. She kept great posession of the ball and, in the second half, she picked up her pace and started pinging balls more quickly.

Rose Lavelle (9/10): This entire game was about her. Lavelle's return was highly anticipated, and lived up to the billing. There was a new level of creativity and pace within the team. Lavelle pushes high up the field, which encourages those around her to fill in the spaces. She did just that, plus added a goal and an assist. Not bad.

    Attack

Alyssa Thompson (8/10): Alyssa Thompson had a quiet first half, despite getting served dimes over the top a number of times. In the second half, however, she turned on the jets. Thompson once again is proving herself to be the strongest outside forward option when it comes to her one vs. one ability and just prowess in front of the net.

Ally Sentnor (7/10): It was a odd day for Sentnor who didn't score, but did just about everything else. She has four goals under Hayes, so when she was put into the No. 9 spot, a goal or two seemed inevitable. While she got close, most of her impact was in her movement and her off-the-ball work. She created numerous chances for teammates by getting out of the way or drawing Ireland defenders into dangerous spots.

Michelle Cooper (7/10): She was another forward who was involved and did just about everything but score. The first half was a little slow on the attacking front, as the three forwards were clearly trying to adjust to the flow. Cooper's best asset is her strength and service on the wing, so when she stuck to that, it was an obvious asset.

    Subs & Manager

Gisele Thompson (6/10): After being ruled out of last camp, it was exciting to see Gisele back in the mix. Subbed into the match in the 59th minute, we didn't get to see a ton of her pace and quick one-twos.

Olivia Moultrie (6/10): Moultrie is another ruthless midfielder. She came into the match and did all of the right things in the midfield, however, she had big shoes to fill stepping in for Lavelle.

Jordyn Bugg (6/10): The18-year-old entered the match in the 73rd minute for Girma, getting her first cap. She made a couple passes and did her thing, despite not much happening.

Lynn Biyendolo (6/10): Didn't see much of the ball, entering the game in the 73rd minute. Positionally she held her own, and was able to post up on a few occasions, despite the limited time.

Emma Hayes (8/10): Not bad, coach. Hayes once again won in Colorado. She put together a strong starting lineup that featured veterans in Lavelle, Sonnett and Girma, and mixed in newcomers in goal and at outside back. Job well done.

Gaur, Filer enjoy dream debuts as England stroll to seven-wicket win

Three wickets each for Mahika Gaur and Lauren Filer before Maia Bouchier hits winning runs

Mahika Gaur and Lauren Filer showed off more than a glimpse of a bright future for England, each taking three wickets on ODI debut to set up their side’s seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in Durham.Combined with three wickets for legspinner Sarah Glenn and Amy Jones’ prowess behind the stumps – becoming the first England wicketkeeper to take five catches in a women’s ODI innings – the duo helped bowl Sri Lanka out for 106 inside 31 overs and the home batters reeled in their paltry target for the loss of just three wickets with 32 overs to spare.Gaur, who at just 17 had played 19 T20Is for UAE before making her England debut in the format with two matches against Sri Lanka during this tour, was handed her maiden ODI cap by retired seamer Katherine Sciver-Brunt and she honoured the changing of the guard with 3 for 26, including the prize dismissal of captain Chamari Attapaththu for just 10. Impressive quick Filer then got in on the act, snaring two wickets in two balls and three in total for figures of 3 for 27 after England won the toss.Legspinner Glenn was England’s only frontline Spinner with Sophie Ecclestone injured – although she would have been rested for the series anyhow – and offspinner Charlie Dean overlooked. She also took 3 for 20 as Sri Lanka failed to halt their slide, sparked – and ended – by Gaur.Gaur’s second delivery in ODI cricket resulted in five wides, a length ball to Anushka Sanjeewani swaying down the leg side and evading wicketkeeper Jones’ attempt to gather. Seven dot balls followed from the tall teen, however, including a gem which shaped back past Sanjeewani’s bat and bounced over the stumps and another which beat Attapaththu’s outside edge after jagging away from an off-stump line.Attapaththu, Sri Lanka’s captain and danger player after playing a decisive role in both her side’s T20I wins over England, chipped a low full toss over midwicket off Gaur two balls later but, at the end of her next over, Gaur snared a prize wicket with a beauty which angled in then moved away to clatter into the top of Attapaththu’s off stump, gone for just 10.When Gaur bowled Sanjeewani with a full inswinger that smashed middle stump, her debut struck dream territory and England were off to the best start they could have hoped for, their opponents reduced to 26 for 2.Glenn trapped Vishmi Gunaratne lbw and then Filer was brought into the attack to excellent effect. Where England had struggled against Sri Lanka’s spinners in losing the last two T20Is, the tourists had no answers for Filer’s raw pace.Filer came on in the 14th over then struck with the third ball of her next, when she did Hasini Perera for pace and bounce, pulling back her length and brushing the glove as Jones did the rest. Then, in the 20th over, Filer claimed the back-to-back wickets of Kavisha Dilhari and Nilakshi de Silva, both caught behindJones also removed Harshitha Samarawickrama off Alice Capsey when England overturned umpire James Middlebrook’s not-out decision and Oshadi Ranasinghe attempting to cut a turning Glenn delivery. Then Glenn bowled Achini Kulasuriya through the gate with one that gripped the surface.Fittingly, it was Gaur who closed out Sri Lanka’s innings with another stunning delivery that nipped into Udeshika Prabodhani, slid between bat and pad and kissed the top of leg stump.Having twice been bowled out inside 20 overs during their defeats to Sri Lanka, England welcomed back ODI openers Tammy Beaumont and Emma Lamb to the 50-over format and the pair guided their side to 61 without loss before Beaumont fell for 32 attempting to cut Inoka Ranaweera only to find the hands of Hasini, diving low to her right at slip. Lamb was gone in the next over, chipping Ranasinghe to mid-off.Despite Heather Knight gloving her attempted sweep off Dilhari behind with eight more runs needed, Maia Bouchier – another making her maiden ODI appearance – struck the winning runs, a four off Athapaththu through the covers to make it a day for the debutants.
