Crystal Palace Eyeing Late Move For "Exciting" Zaha Replacement

Since losing Wilfried Zaha after the expiration of his contract, Crystal Palace have failed to find a replacement, leaving the likes of Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise to share the responsibility of creating the goals to secure the Eagles' Premier League status.

So far this season, they've got away with their failure in the transfer market, defeating Sheffield United on the opening day before suffering a narrow loss against Arsenal and earning a point at Brentford.

It remains to be seen just how long Roy Hodgson's side can paper over the cracks of Zaha's exit, however, and it now looks as though they could finally be targeting a replacement before the window slams shut.

What's the latest Crystal Palace transfer news?

To say that Palace have stood still would be an understatement. The Eagles have welcomed just two new additions in the form of Jefferson Lerma and Matheus Franca. And with others strengthening around them, you have to worry about their survival chances unless they make some last-minute moves before the end of the window.

One positive has been the fact that they have so far managed to keep hold of Eze and Olise, who signed a new contract at the club to end any reported interest from Chelsea.

Now, though, they must turn their attention to incomings, which is where Luis Sinisterra could come in. According to Football Transfers, Palace are weighing up a late approach to sign the Leeds United winger, who refused to play for the Yorkshire club in an attempt to depart earlier in the window.

It remains to be seen just how much those at Elland Road will demand for Sinisterra, too, given his importance to Daniel Farke's attack and, therefore, Leeds' promotion chances this season.

Should Leeds United sign Luis Sinisterra?

luis-sinisterra-leeds-united-transfer-gossip-farke-leicester-city-luke-thomas

Welcoming Sinisterra would instantly solve Palace's Zaha problem – statistically speaking, the Colombian is more than capable of replicating the threat posed by the Selhurst Park hero.

According to FBref, Sinisterra even outperformed Zaha in certain aspects last season.

With that said, and given the fact that the Leeds winger is just 24-years-old, Palace could even be getting themselves an upgrade on Zaha in the long-term, if they push ahead and secure a deal with the Yorkshire club.

Sinisterra has certainly earned plenty of praise during his time at Leeds, too, including from Matt Kilgallon, who told BBC Radio Leeds, via Leeds Live: "He’s exciting, isn’t he? And you can see that when he’s out there, he’s going to produce something. If he gets you one on one, then probably the only outcome is that he’s getting past you.

“I can understand the fans getting excited with him, but I’d like to see him against better opposition. Very exciting though and looks like he’s settled in well. He took his goal brilliantly.”

As the window comes to an end, Palace will have to act fast if they want to sign the winger, with the Eagles simply weighing up a move as things stand.

Leeds: Farke Eyeing Up Swoop To Land "Exceptional" £10m Ace

An update has emerged on Leeds United and their plans to bolster their options in the middle of the park before the end of the summer transfer window…

What's the latest Leeds transfer news?

Daniel Farke is eyeing a midfield signing to add to the four signings that he has already made so far; including Ethan Ampadu, Joe Rodon, Sam Byram, and Karl Darlow.

According to journalist Alan Nixon (via his Patreon site), the German head coach is targeting a swoop to sign Nottingham Forest central midfielder Lewis O'Brien before next month's deadline.

Read the latest Leeds transfer news HERE…

The reporter's article states that it would take a fee within the region of £10m to secure his services as Steve Cooper looks to trim his Premier League squad over the coming days.

It is also claimed that the Whites could iron out a deal that would see the former Huddersfield star arrive at Elland Road on loan with an obligation to buy if they are promoted to the top-flight.

How good is Lewis O'Brien?

The English machine is a terrific box-to-box midfielder who would come in as a big upgrade on the recently-departed Marc Roca, who failed to impress for Leeds in the Premier League last season.

O'Brien caught the eye on loan at DC United this year, after only being handed six league starts by Forest, as he averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.06 across 17 appearances for the MLS outfit.

The left-footed ace made 3.2 tackles and interceptions per match and won a whopping 75% of his aerial battles as he showcased his quality out of possession.

Whereas, Roca made 2.8 tackles and interceptions per game and won 59% of his aerial contests across 32 league outings for Leeds last term.

O'Brien, who was once dubbed an "exceptional" player by ex-boss Carlos Corberan, also created 1.4 chances per clash for his teammates during his time with DC United, which is more than any current Leeds player managed last season and 0.4 more per game than the former Bayern Munich man was able to produce.

Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O'Brien.

The £10m-rated talent is also a Championship-proven performer who could hit the ground running at this level. He averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.00 over 43 games for Huddersfield during the 2021/22 campaign as they reached the play-off final.

During that season, the English maestro racked up three goals and three assists to go along with three tackles and interceptions combined per match, as he made an impact at both ends of the pitch from midfield.

O'Brien also excels at carrying his team up the field as the ex-Terriers star has averaged 2.56 progressive carries per 90 over the last 365 days, whereas Roca has only averaged 0.91 per 90 in that period.

This shows that the Leeds target would provide more quality in terms of being able to drive the team forward by using his dribbling ability to carry the ball, which would then put him in better positions to find his teammates at the top end of the pitch.

These statistics suggest that the 24-year-old dynamo would come in as a big upgrade on his fellow left-footed midfielder, who is now on loan at Real Betis, due to being able to cut out opposition attacks with defensive interventions more frequently whilst also offering more creativity in possession.

49ers Green Light Leeds Move For £12k-p/w "Animal"

Leeds United's American owners, 49ers Enterprises are ready to green light a move for Norwich City star Josh Sargent, with a new report now revealing that a bid could be submitted in the very near future…

What's the latest Leeds transfer news?

Leeds have been in the market for a new striker, and they have recently received a potential boost in their pursuit of West Ham United's Michail Antonio, with talkSPORT's Alan Brazil claiming the Jamaican is set to depart the London Stadium this summer.

Brazil said: "I’m told he’s off. He’s off. I’m told someone has helped pack him and he’s on his way."

Daniel Farke's side have also been named as potential suitors for Venezia attacker Joel Pohjanpalo, and Ben Jacobs has told GiveMeSport that Swansea City's Joel Piroe could be another option, saying:

"I think Leeds would like a striker. I think that they need a goalscorer to come in and make sure that they retain their firepower, but it's not guaranteed.

"Joel Piroe has been the one that's been linked from Swansea, but I think that price has always been a bit of an issue there, even though Leeds are very genuine."

A new report from Football Insider has now detailed that the Whites are considering a late-window swoop for Sargent, having drawn up a shortlist of strikers after Patrick Bamford's injury, and their opening offer could be made in the next few days.

Since then, Football Insider have also gone on to claim that Leeds' American owners, 49ers Enterprises, are ready to green light a deal for the Norwich City forward, indicating that a bid could be expected soon.

The 49ers took full control at Elland Road last month, despite the relegation from the Premier League, and they are willing to bring more American talent through the door, with the club previously signing the likes of Tyler Adams and Brenden Aaronson.

Those signings helped boost the Yorkshire club's profile in the USA, and the board are open to bringing in more American talent this summer.

How many goals has Josh Sargent scored for Norwich?

The Missouri-born attacker has scored a total of 18 goals in 73 appearances for Norwich, so he has not been prolific, but there is evidence he is now coming into his prime, having found the back of the net 13 times in the Championship last season.

Lauded as an "absolute animal" by members of the media, the American was ranked by Sofascore as the Canaries' fourth-best performing player in the Championship last term, and he could be a versatile option for Farke.

Norwich striker Josh Sargent.

The £12k-per-week attacker is also capable of playing at right-wing, weighing in with six goals and four assists in 38 games in that area of the pitch.

Sargent is yet to prove himself as an out-and-out goalscorer, so it may be worth Leeds bringing in a more experienced option alongside him, such as Antonio, but he is a top player at Championship level, and he could be a real boost in the Whites' promotion push this season.

Leeds: Farke Could Sign "Aggressive" £10k-p/w Djed Spence Partner

Leeds United seem to be unrelenting in their late transfer flurry, with Daniel Farke having clearly left all his business late as he seeks to add numerous new faces to his side…

Who could Leeds United sign this summer?

One such name that seems to be closing in on a switch is Djed Spence, who has seen his touted Elland Road switch accelerated throughout yesterday's whirlwind of reports.

Having been given the famous "here we go" by transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, fans can once again get excited at the prospect of seeing a dynamic defender explode down that right flank, contributing to attacks but retaining the youthful energy to defend too.

What could make their new signing even better is if they could emulate that success on the opposite side, with reports suggesting they may well do as they are seeking to loan Luke Thomas from Championship rivals Leicester City.

Read the latest Leeds transfer news HERE…

With just one year left on his £10k-per-week deal at the King Power, a temporary switch to Yorkshire could act as an audition for the club, who could snag his services on a free transfer next summer should he impress.

How good is Luke Thomas?

Whilst not quite as well-versed at their current level as Spence, the 22-year-old would still represent an equally exciting option down the left to add a similar injection of youthful exuberance.

With 85 first-team appearances to his name, having broken into the Foxes senior squad under Brendan Rodgers, it was not easy for the young left-back to stake a starting claim given he battled with Timothy Castagne, James Justin and even Ricardo Pereira at times.

So, to boast that many showings is admirable alone, not to mention how admirable he performed at times; particularly during the 2021/22 season, where he maintained a solid 6.75 average rating in the league. This was a figure upheld by his consistently combative displays, with his defensive prowess sure to offer a fine counter-balance for Spence's all-action style.

Thomas also recorded 1.8 interceptions, 2.3 tackles and 2.1 clearances per game during that term, as if to emphasise this, via Sofascore.

Such form understandably drew praise from many, with his former boss leading the plaudits:

"It's his first game playing against a really good team, he's got great awareness. I thought over the course of the game he did so well. He defends, so aggressive and tenacious and he can pass the ball which is important for someone who plays me for me."

This was further supplemented by teammate Johnny Evans: "I thought he was outstanding," Evans said. "Everything he did was immaculate. He was man of the match for me."

luke-thomas

For Farke to place him in his side, it would allow perfect balance to be earned should his compatriot recapture his form from the 2021/22 season, whilst on loan at Nottingham Forest.

The 23-year-old was imperative in their eventual promotion success, recording six goal contributions alongside one key pass and 1.4 tackles per game, via Sofascore.

His attacking exploits were actually highlighted by former Forest ace Brian Laws, who was effusive in his praise:

"He has been the standout player in the Forest side and we are talking about a full-back. Full-backs do not tend to get many headlines. He grabs them by the handful. In every single game, he has a positive impact.

"He has power going forward, he has electric pace, he has an abundance of skill, he can drop his shoulder, step-over, go inside or outside — he is a major threat."

It seems that, whilst they are a couple of young English defenders, their outlook on the game could not be more different. However, for Farke, this could prove to be a match made in heaven to finally add some energy and competence to those full-back spots.

Gayle and WI need to break out of the funk

If West Indies concede the match, they will have to return home with nothing to show for their stay in New Zealand

Big pictureIt may just be arbitrary – an illusion of time even – but a new year can have a remarkable effect. Ask West Indies. They ushered in 2017 with their trophy cabinet bursting at the seams. Then they were booted out of an ICC tournament. They will have to play fringe teams in international cricket to qualify for the next World Cup. And, on the basis of their performance on Friday, even their often infallible T20 game needs work.If West Indies concede the match on January 1, they will have to return home with nothing to show for their stay in New Zealand and the only people that would be feeling worse than Stuart Law, Jason Holder and Carlos Brathwaite would be those who had ended up as designated drivers the previous night. They’ve written the book on winning matches without too many star players. And it isn’t a complicated read either: have plans at the ready, ensure the players buy into that and can execute them under pressure.

Welcoming Sinisterra would instantly solve Palace's Zaha problem – statistically speaking, the Colombian is more than capable of replicating the threat posed by the Selhurst Park hero.

According to FBref, Sinisterra even outperformed Zaha in certain aspects last season.

Sinisterra has certainly earned plenty of praise during his time at Leeds, too, including from Matt Kilgallon, who told BBC Radio Leeds, via Leeds Live: "He’s exciting, isn’t he? As the window comes to an end, Palace will have to act fast if they want to sign the winger, with the Eagles simply weighing up a move as things stand.

Tottenham attacker yet to play could "fit nicely" into Ange’s system

To say that Ange Postecoglou has hit the ground running at Tottenham Hotspur would be an understatement. The former Celtic boss has breathed new life into the Lilywhites, who are now finally blossoming once again in the early stages of the campaign.

When Spurs lost Harry Kane to Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, without really replacing him, some may have been quick to worry about Spurs' ability to keep up with the rest of the Premier League's top six. With four games gone, however, only Manchester City have earned more points than Postecoglou's side, who have already defeated Manchester United this season.

Spurs deserve credit for replacing Kane's goals through other sources, sharing the goals round. And, now, a forgotten man could finally play his part, with Alasdair Gold suggesting that he'd slot in well in the current system.

What did Alasdair Gold say?

In his latest Q&A, Gold spoke about the options at Postecoglou's disposal, including those who are yet to play. Of course, with no European football this season, opportunities may be hard to come by for fringe players, but Gold believes that certain players can put themselves in contention.

Among those that Gold spoke about was Bryan Gil, who enjoyed an impressive loan spell with Sevilla last season, starting in the La Liga side's Europa League final victory over AS Roma but is yet to feature this season.

Speaking about Gil, Gold said, via Football London:

“Gil can play on either flank. I’m fascinated to see whether he can force his way into Postecoglou’s thinking.

“There’s a lot of competition now for those wide spots but the little Spaniard will fit nicely into the way the Australian wants his players to play. It’s all about whether he gets the minutes to show it though.”

The winger, himself, suggested on social media that he is ready to kickstart his Spurs career, posting a picture in the Spurs gym, with the caption saying, soon. With that said, it will certainly be interesting to see whether he can force his way into Postecoglou's plans after the international break.

Should Spurs play Bryan Gil?

bryan-gil-tottenham-hotspur-transfer-lucas-moura-levy-mason

Given Dejan Kulusevski's slow start to the season, scoring just once in five games in all competitions, it could be a more than warranted decision by Postecoglou to hand Gil a chance over the coming months.

Statistically speaking, if the Spaniard took his Sevilla form to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, then the Lilywhites would have themselves an excellent attacking option. Gil's biggest asset could come through his ability to win the ball back, given Postecoglou's need for players who are able to press high up the pitch.

As per FBref, Gil is in the top 94 percentile for interceptions per 90, with 0.94, whilst also sitting in the top 85 percentile for tackles, making 1.93 per 90. So, it's clear that the winger can, in fact, slot straight into the system that is currently having so much success at Spurs, giving Postecoglou plenty to think about.

Looking to kickstart his Lilywhites career, Gil may well be desperately hoping to receive plenty of opportunities in the Premier League under Postecoglou this season, so he could be a player to keep an eye on.

AJUSTES NO MEIO-CAMPO
