— Aequipe deles é bem entrosada, aproveita o fator campo, bate lateral rápido, a bola deles é sempre rápida,. Mas sabemos como é. É um grande jogo, contra eles sempre é assim. Agente tem um grupo forte com cobrança de todos. Nosso objetivo é ir lá e fazer um grande jogo— completou ele.

Everton fans fume at pundits’ comments on striker %%sep%% %%sitename%%

Everton fans have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relayed footage of Robbie Savage and Chris Sutton, who labelled Dominic Calvert-Lewin a diver.

Speaking on BBC Five Live Sport, Sutton stated the Everton forward was the winner of the ‘simulation game’, going on to say that Calvert-Lewin was ‘better than that’ and to ‘just stop it’ when it came to simulation, before Savage also repeated the call that the £40.5 million-rated 23-year-old was ‘better than that’.

So far this season, Calvert-Lewin has been in incredibly fine form over his 16 league appearances for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, scoring 11 goals and averaging a WhoScored match rating of 7.40 – ranking him as the club’s second-best performer in the top flight.

And, after BBC Five Live Sport shared the footage of Savage and Sutton on Twitter, fans of Everton flocked to have their say on the matter, with many left furious by the pundits’ remarks.

So, what exactly did these Everton fans have to say in reaction to Robbie Savage and Chris Sutton’s comments regarding Dominic Calvert-Lewin?

“Staggered by this. DCL wouldn’t even be in the top 100 divers in the Prem! Look at Man U diving to get pens every week! Liverpool get them every other week! Leicester are trying it, Jose has got Kane doing it at Spurs…and you choose to highlight DCL. Absolutely bonkers!”

@DannyBrodders

“Really weird take this. Calvert-Lewin isn’t even renowned for going down and he didn’t even claim for a penalty. So many more obvious examples than any of the players mentioned there.”

@matt8284

“Utter embarrassments, the state on this pair. One player who oozes integrity..and you rate him as a cheater or and a diver. You lack class… But hardly surprised. You spout bile to try and stay relevant… But you are utterly irrelevant. Not surprised that BBC is going downhill”

@Rexellis75

“So funny. This is pathetic you have started with someone who would struggle to make the top 100 premier league divers #pathetic #boring what are the chances the actual cheaters such as Harry Kane, Mo Salah, Bruno Fernandez don’t make this list”

@jonty1878

“This is utterly absurd.”

@EmmaHanko

“sack them now absolute joke. Never been booked for simulation.”

Everton slipped up with Theo Walcott exit

Everton slipped up in the previous transfer window by allowing Theo Walcott to join Southampton on loan until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old returned to his boyhood side late in the summer market after the Toffees failed to secure a permanent deal, having shopped Walcott around as part of a vast clear out at Goodison Park to recoup some cash from their spending spree.

Walcott had only moved to Merseyside two-and-a-half years prior in a deal worth in excess of £20m, but had been deemed surplus to requirements by Carlo Ancelotti as he entered the final year of his £100,000-per-week contract.

Everton’s inability to find suitors willing to purchase the £9m-rated winger ultimately opened the door for his homecoming at St. Mary’s, where Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side are only on the hook for half of Walcott’s wages.

Trevor Sinclair has recently revealed he was surprised by Everton’s decision to allow Walcott to join Southampton until the end of the season, at which point he will be a free agent, as the former Arsenal forward had become a real attacking threat again.

“I think they [Southampton] have strengthened as well bringing in Theo,” Sinclair told talkSPORT. “He was a breath of fresh air.

“For me, I was surprised that Everton let him go because I have been to Everton and Goodison a few times where Theo has looked really on it and looks like he is happy and enjoying his football.

“Definitely over any kind of injuries, so yes he was a real threat.”

Walcott has scored two goals and provided two assists in 13 Premier League games for Southampton this season, while starting all of his appearances and only sitting out the Saints’ 2-0 win over Everton last October.

His presence has not entirely been missed at Goodison Park with Alex Iwobi stepping up to the challenge of deputising for James Rodriguez whilst the Colombian was out injured, with the Nigerian delivering some of his best Everton performances to date.

But it can now be considered a blunder by Everton’s Director of Football Marcel Brands to allow Walcott to join Southampton until his contract expires in the summer, as the former England international’s form will no doubt have attracted suitors this year.

Everton are now simply paying Walcott to put his services in the shop window ahead of becoming a free agent, which may not last for long with Hasenhuttl already confirming that he sees no reason why Southampton should not strive to finalise a long-term contract.

“I am very happy that he is comfortable here now and that he is happy to play for us and there is no reason why we should not think about keeping him longer here,” he said, via quotes by the Daily Mail, last month.

The Saints would certainly be wise to lock up a player that has become such a key weapon in Hasenhuttl’s armoury, with Danny Ings (2.1) and Che Adams (1.7) the only Southampton players offering more shots per Premier League game than the Everton-owned forward (1.6), per WhoScored.

Only James Ward-Prowse (1.6) and Adams (1.1) are providing more key passes than Walcott (0.9), too, while the 31-year-old – who ranks first at St. Mary’s for attempted dribbles (2.9) – further delivers 1.8 crosses a game, as the Saints march on in hopes of qualifying for Europe.

Everton, for whom Walcott would rank fourth for shots and fifth for key balls, may now be regretting their decision to allow the forward’s loan deal to go through and wave goodbye to any hopes of recouping anything of the fee paid to Arsenal at the start of 2018.

Leeds United: Bielsa must turn to Nohan Kenneh amid Robin Koch injury blow

Leeds United defender Robin Koch limped off against Chelsea in the Whites’ 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night but Bielsa could have a natural replacement in 17-year-old Nohan Kenneh.

The German international looked to be struggling in the opening stages of the game against Frank Lampard’s side and was replaced after less than 10 minutes after he had gone down clutching his knee.

He was replaced by Spanish centre-back Diego Llorente, who made his first start for the club after missing the first two months of the season with a groin injury.

This leaves Bielsa with just Llorente, Liam Cooper and Pascal Struijk as fit senior centre-backs in this side, and as we approach a busy Christmas period, you worry that if the Argentinian manager doesn’t rotate his side, then he will suffer more injuries in his defence.

Fortunately, he also has 17-year-old Kenneh available to him, with the academy graduate having trained with the first-team in recent weeks, so he is clearly knocking on the door for a start in Bielsa’s side.

Therefore Koch’s injury, whilst unfortunate, gives the Leeds manager the perfect opportunity to unleash Kenneh and show fans what the young academy sensation is capable of.

The England U17 starlet is yet to make a senior appearance for the Elland Road outfit but has made seven appearances for the academy sides so far this season.

[freshpress-quiz id=“562145″]

Leeds have five more Premier League games between now and the new year, so surely Bielsa will be tempted to make some changes to his squad to try and avoid his senior players being overexerted, which could lead to Kenneh being an opportunity to shine.

The 17-year-old can play as both a centre-back and a defensive-midfielder too, which gives Bielsa some more freedom in where he wants to play him if he decides that he isn’t ready to feature as a centre-back in the Premier League.

Either way, Koch’s injury is a blow for Leeds, so it will be interesting to see if Bielsa trusts Kenneh, or any other youngster, to replace him in the upcoming fixtures.

Aston Villa: Fans react as Newcastle forced to postpone Friday’s clash

Many Aston Villa fans are fuming following the latest reports surrounding their game against Newcastle United.

The Premier League have opted to postpone Friday night’s match between the Magpies and Aston Villa. According to Luke Edwards, and tweeted out by @villareport, the Tyneside club believe that as many as ten of their players are infected with COVID-19.

This will understandably frustrate Villa as they already have a game in hand in the league due to their game being postponed at the start of the season (SofaScore). To have two games in hand could see the fixture list become very congested for Dean Smith’s side down the line and could cause fatigue and injury issues.

Smith will not be happy – having lost their last two games 2-1 against Brighton and Hove Albion and West Ham, an up and down Newcastle side presented the Villains with a chance to get back on track, but instead they will now be left with a ‘huge disadvantage’ later in the season, as the postponed was confirmed on Tuesday evening.

Here is what Villa fans had to say following the update:

West Ham must avoid a reunion with former loan flop Joao Mario

West Ham United boss David Moyes is eyeing a reunion with a player he signed back in 2018, though the ship may have sailed with his exploits these days…

What’s the word?

According to O Jogo, the Irons are one of the teams interested in signing Inter Milan flop Joao Mario this transfer window with the midfielder unlikely to have much of a future under Antonio Conte.

They claim that the Nerazzurri are asking for around €13m (£12m) for his signature with Leeds United and Newcastle United also keen.

Joao Mario joined the Hammers on loan in January 2018 and provided two goals and one assist in 14 appearances.

Not the solution

If the club want to appease fans by finding a suitable Grady Diangana replacement, then it’s probably not going to be in the form of the 27-year-old particularly as many weren’t pleased with his performances during that loan stint.

The Portuguese midfielder went out temporarily once again last season, joining Lokomotiv Moscow where he managed one goal and four assists as well as 2.5 key passes per match, via WhoScored.

Joao Mario has never been able to hold down a place in Inter Milan’s side despite a €45m move four years ago and perhaps his versatility is indeed the weakness as he can play wide as well as centrally.

In the past, he’s been compared to former Spurs brute Mousa Dembele yet Moyes sometimes played him on either wing, thus adding to the uncertainty, though the 57-year-old is evidently a fan, he once said:

“[Joao Mario] brings a little bit of flair, he’s good on the ball, and a bit of natural talent. What goes unnoticed is that he’s actually a really hard-working boy as well.”

However, the warning signs are there. If Moscow didn’t want to keep him, then there’s no reason why the Irons should push for a return here. It would be a massive gamble, that’s for sure.

Newcastle United: Keith Downie gives big update on Matty Longstaff future

Keith Downie has given a rather big update on the future of Newcastle United ace Matty Longstaff on his official Twitter page.

According to his tweet, the Sky Sports presenter confirmed that he “will stay at SJP” after Udinese, Brighton and Hove Albion and Leeds United all tried to sign him up on a free transfer.

Longstaff is now set to sign a new long-term deal to stay at his boyhood club after some convincing by Steve Bruce.

Another report linked Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton and David Moyes’ West Ham United with a possible move for Longstaff given that his contract was running out, but now any move away from St. James’ Park seems to have been blown out of the water.

Indeed, the central midfield player enjoyed a fine breakthrough season in 2019/20, where he played in a total of 15 games in all competitions, scoring three goals, including two against Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United in the Premier League, as per Transfermarkt.

Longstaff is also an established youth international player, having played in two matches for the England U20’s side (via the website).

Bruce will be delighted that he has convinced the homegrown talent to stay, as he can now give some healthy competition to the likes of Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey and his brother Sean Longstaff in the middle of the park.

At just 20 years of age as well, Longstaff still has time to grow and develop as a football player, as he will now be hoping to kick-start his Magpies career for the years to come.

Geordies, are you happy that Longstaff has stayed? Comment below!

Jack Wilshere’s release would be easier to swallow if Loftus-Cheek came in

West Ham United are all over the place at the moment.

The Hammers’ transfer business has been less than inspiring, and after two defeats in their opening two matches, something has to change sooner rather than later.

Fortunately, the London club are being linked with some exciting moves, with reports claiming that they’re interested in loaning Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

This move would certainly bolster the Hammers’ midfield as the England international would add some much-needed creativity to what has turned into a rather flat XI.

However, West Ham do already have a player in this mould, in the shape of Jack Wilshere.

There are a lot of parallels to be drawn between Wilshere and Loftus-Cheek, with the pair being young creative English midfielders who have dazzled with their ball control and passing ability.

Unfortunately, Wilshere’s West Ham career may be coming to an end, with reports earlier this month claiming that the club are ready to terminate his £100k a week contract in order to cut some costs.

Watch West Ham United Videos With StreamFootball.tv Below

We’ve already argued that paying the 28-year-old £5.2m for the rest of the year is a risk worth taking for the club due to the fact that it’d be a tough task to find a player that talented for such a price, but in Loftus-Cheek they may have found that man.

If the Chelsea man is brought in for the season it would mitigate a lot of the risk attached to releasing Wilshere, as they will have a man who is amongst the England reckoning when he is fit and at his best.

Will it still be painful for West Ham fans if Wilshere goes on to excel elsewhere? Of course it will be, but if Loftus-Cheek performs how we know he can, that pain will be eased.
