Aston Villa suffered defeat at the hands of Manchester City on Saturday, going down 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium (via BBC Sport).

Dean Smith’s side had held the Citizens for the first half, but second half goals from Raheem Sterling, David Silva and Ilkay Gundogan condemned the Villans to defeat.

It was the first defeat for Aston Villa in four matches, having drawn against Burnley and secured back-to-back wins against Norwich City and Brighton prior to the game against the champions (via Transfermarkt).

It was also the first time that the Villans have failed to score in a league match since their 0-0 draw against West Ham on 16th September (Transfermarkt).

One reason for them firing a blank was the fact that centre-forward Wesley failed to have much of an impact on the game at the Etihad.

The Brazilian really struggled and failed to have a shot on target in the game, whilst also having one unsuccessful touch and one offside before being substituted after 70 minutes. He finished the game with a low WhoScored rating of just 5.83, mustering just one shot off target.

وأوضح: “هذا ما فاتني مع أوناي إيمري، لم أحصل معه على أي فرص للعب مثل أرتيتا، ولهذا رحلت”.

وأتم تصريحاته قائلًا: “الآن حصلت على فرصة للعب والتطور، وأنا سعيد بنفسي الآن”.

النني هذا الموسم شارك كثيرًا مع الجانرز، إذا خاض 36 مُباراة بمُختلف المُسابقات، وسجّل هدفان في مسابقة الدوري الأوروبي.

Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been left unimpressed by a report from CalcioMercato saying they are interested in Ajax winger David Neres.

The Italian media outlet says Spurs are monitoring the Brazilian attacker, rated at £40.5m by Transfermarkt, and there is no doubting his ability given he has scored 31 goals and provided a further 33 assists in 113 matches for the Eredivisie giants.

However, the north London outfit appear to have more pressing concerns at the moment from a defensive point of view, as shown by the seven goals they shipped at home to Bayern Munich in the Champions League this week.

That is one of the major bugbears of the Tottenham supporters commenting on the reported interest in the South American, who would likely be fighting with the likes of Son Heung-min, Lucas Moura and Erik Lamela for a spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI if he arrived at the club in the near future.

While one individual asked “are we turning into Arsenal?”, in relation to the Gunners buying attacking players rather than sorting out their backline, another said “we need defensive players more”.

وأكد المدرب الأرجنتيني أنه على الفريق حاليا نسيان النتيجة والخسارة والتركيز على مباراة الجولة الرابعة يوم 11 أبريل الجاري بالقاهرة وضرورة الفوز.

واختتم: “لابد من التحضير للمباراة القادمة جيدا والتعامل مع المصابين خاصة أسامة جلال الذي خرج مصابا وتحضير بقية العناصر للعودة والانتصار”.

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Troy Parrott scored the winner as Republic of Ireland Under-21s recorded a 1-0 victory over Armenia Under-21s on Friday night.

It was actually Parrott’s debut for ROI at that level of football, and the 17-year-old found the back of the net with a cool finish from close range.

The teenager is yet to make a first-team appearance for Spurs this season, but he was heavily involved in their preparations for the 2019/20 campaign.

What’s more, Parrott has netted twice in one Premier League 2 appearance for the club’s Under-23 outfit this term, which is another indication of his talent.

Manchester City fans rejoice! Aymeric Laporte may finally be set to earn his first senior cap for France. And about time too.

The 25-year-old has failed to make a Les Bleus squad since making the bench for the side’s 2-0 defeat to Spain back in March 2017.

Now, this personal boost for the City ace is quite unexpected, as the centre-back even suggested the previous lack of international recognition could be put down to a personal vendetta against him from France manager Didier Deschamps.

Speaking back in December, he said, as quoted by The Manchester Evening News: “Of course I don’t think it’s because of a sporting issue, you’d have to ask him personally. I don’t have anything personal against him, but if someone has a problem it’s him and not me.

“I could be a world champion… but these are the decisions of the coach, who is not calling me for, I think, personal reasons, and I have to respect him.”

After hearing the news of Laporte being called up for the upcoming EURO 2020 qualifiers, City fans flooded to Twitter to voice their reaction to the matter.

After reportedly being close to Manchester United, it has recently been claimed that Paulo Dybala is within touching distance of completing a sensational move to Tottenham Hostpur.

Juventus and Spurs are said to have agreed a fee of £64.4m for the Argentina international. As such, a deal could be completed for the 25-year-old with the transfer deadline within touching distance.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is fearful that Liverpool and Manchester City will be too difficult to catch in the Premier League this season.

The new campaign is just three games old, and whilst Liverpool have gathered nine points from their three fixtures thus far, City have seven points.

On Wednesday, club insider ExWHUemployee said that West Ham United midfielder Pedro Obiang was in Italy ahead of a move to Sassuolo.

The 27-year-old has made 116 appearances for the Hammers since arriving from Sampdoria in the summer of 2015.

West Ham later confirmed that the midfielder has officially departed, posting a good luck message on both their official website and Twitter account.

The club insider also said that Obiang has wanted to leave West Ham for the last 18 months, but did not ‘make a fuss’ when he was told that would not be possible.

The London club’s fans have been on social media reacting to the Twitter post.

And the majority have lavished praise on Obiang for his conduct.

The midfielder actually made 29 appearances for Manuel Pellegrini’s side last term, but was seemingly surplus to requirements moving forward.
