Hanif Mohammad, the legendary Pakistan batsman, has successfully undergone an operation for liver cancer. Mohammad, 78, underwent the operation on Tuesday and will remain under observation for a week.”It (the cancer) has been diagnosed at an early stage and it has not spread anywhere else,” his surgeon Robert Hutchins told .According to a report in , Mohammad’s illness was diagnosed four weeks ago in a Karachi hospital. He flew to London for a second opinion, where he was operated on.”I am feeling fine. The surgeon has told me that it is just the start and it has not spread and that I have got to get it out,” Hanif told the paper. “I would have loved to watch the Lord’s Ashes Test but it seems that I will not be able to because I am told that I will have to stay in the ICU and hospital for a week, and then will have to rest for a month.”Mohammad was one of the earliest stars of Pakistan cricket, and his impeccable technique helped him set several world records. He holds the record for the longest innings in Test history, when he scored 337 in 970 minutes against West Indies in Barbados in 1957-58. In the next year, he set the world record for the highest first-class score when he scored an unbeaten 499 for Karachi against Bahawalpur, until he was overtaken by the former West Indies batsman Brian Lara.

Gustagol também pediu concentração ao Corinthians no jogo contra o Racing. Como o duelo de ida terminou 1 a 1, o Timão precisa de uma vitória ou de um empate a partir de 2 a 2 para garantir a classificação. Nova igualdade por 1 a 1 leva a decisão para os pênaltis.

A associação – responsável por revelar o atleta Fernando, de 20 anos, vendido ao Shakhtar Donetsk, da Ucrânia – enfrenta o Fluminense nesta terça-feira, dia 12, em Xerém. Depois, encara o Serrano, em Petrópolis, na quarta, e o Vasco, no CT Artsul, na quinta.

Franz Wendel, treinador da categoria sub-17, e Plínio Junior, técnico do sub-15, serão alguns dos profissionais da A.M.D.H. na excursão. Eles comentaram a experiência. O projeto é campeão do interior por quatro vezes no sub-17.

– Teremos uma semana muito rica, na qual enfrentaremos times grandes do Rio, o Fluminense e o Vasco, e poderemos observar atletas do Serrano. Acredito que será algo bastante produtivo para o clube, pois será uma chance de mostrarmos bons atletas, que podem ser observados e até mesmo captados por grandes clubes de lá. Além de tudo isso, serve de preparação para a nossa equipe para as futuras competições da temporada, o Campeonato Mineiro, a Taça BH e a Copa do Brasil – disse Franz.

– É uma experiência muito boa para os meninos. O Brasil é um país muito grande, então o futebol é diferente em cada estado, tem suas peculiaridades. Para os garotos, muito novos, que precisam ainda de rodagem, é algo muito interessante. Além de, claro, pensarmos na formação de nossa equipe, já que ainda estamos em início de temporada. Em julho de 2017, a A.M.D.H. ganhou destaque com a venda de Fernando, que estava no Palmeiras, ao Shakhtar Donetsk (UCR). O atleta, à época com 19 anos, foi formado na associação.

– Além dos resultados, conseguimos também encaminhar vários atletas a grandes clubes de todo o Brasil. São os frutos que a gente colhe deste grande trabalho, que vem evoluindo de forma rápida e eficiente. Um grande exemplo disso é o Fernando, que percebemos ser um atleta diferente logo no início dele aqui. A ascensão foi meteórica. Ele foi praticamente contratado pelo Palmeiras antes mesmo de finalizar a participação na Taça BH. É um garoto brilhante, tem um futuro enorme pela frente. Esperamos que “outros Fernandos” saiam daqui para brilhar mundo afora – disse Evandro Marçal, coordenador do projeto.

Em 2014 e 2018, a equipe foi vice-campeã do interior.

– O A.M.D.H. Futebol Clube é, de fato, o projeto mais audacioso da nossa instituição. Não é fácil montar um clube de futebol em Minas Gerais, pois a concorrência é forte. Além dos grandes clubes da primeira divisão do futebol brasileiro, temos várias equipes consolidadas no interior e região metropolitana. Mas, trabalhando forte e de forma séria, estamos conseguindo nosso espaço dentro deste cenário. Desde 2012, temos as equipes sub-15 e sub-17 sempre disputando o campeonato estadual e fazendo grandes campanhas, inclusive, com bons resultados frente a Atlético, Cruzeiro e América. Em 2017, passamos pela quarta vez consecutiva à segunda fase do Campeonato Mineiro na categoria sub-15 e conquistamos o título de Campeão Mineiro do Interior. Isso tudo é motivo de muito orgulho para nós e, claro, dá uma motivação a mais para seguir trabalhando e surpreendendo a cada dia – completou Evandro.

Maharashtra batsman Vijay Zol has been named captain of the India Under-19 squad for the Tri-nation Under-19 Tournament in Australia, which will begin on June 30.Zol and Mumbai batsman Akhil Herwadkar are the only two players in the squad who were a part of the squad at the U-19 World Cup last year, which India won.Zol hit the headlines when he scored an unbeaten 451 during a domestic U-19 match in 2011. During the U-19 World Cup, Zol scored 151 runs in six matches at an average of 25.16. He has scored 272 runs in seven List A matches at an average of 36.Kerala wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who was part of the Under-19 team for the Asia Cup in 2012, also made the squad. وقال شريف خلال تصريحات عبر قناة أون تايم سبورت لبرنامج “ملعب أون تايم”: “مركزي حساس بعض الشيء وطبيعي الجماهير تطالب بإحراز الأهداف، الموسم الماضي لعبت لمدة نصف موسم بسبب الإصابة بالضامة”.

وأكمل: “ذهبنا للمغرب وكان كل تركيزنا أننا نحرز هدفًا في مرمى الوداد ولم نذهب من أجل اللعب على التعادل”.

وأردف: “أنا بعيد بعض الشيء عن منتخب مصر وهذا طبيعي لأنني لم أشارك باستمرار مع النادي الأهلي في الفترة الأخيرة”.

واستطرد: “علي معلول أكثر لاعب يعرف ما الذي أفعله في الملعب ونبحث عن بعض دائمًا عندما أشارك، الوداد اخذ مننا بطولتين إفريقيا، وكان لا يجب علينا أن نفرط في البطولة الثالثة”.

Cranes are swinging around the ground and the physiotherapist’s arms are equally as busy in the dressing room. But the bowlers Gloucestershire got on the field proved their worth on the opening day at Bristol.Around £10 million is being spent to upgrade the ground to keep Bristol as an international venue and, while only fractions of that sum are available for the playing staff, they earned every penny with a disciplined bowling display that ran through a far richer Hampshire batting order, save for Jimmy Adams’ loneliest of lone hands.The bowler who enjoyed most success must be one of the lowest paid professional cricketers in the country. Craig Miles, 18, signed a two-year deal last September when Gloucestershire’s financial pressure almost reached breaking point as they tried, and eventually succeeded on appeal, to get their development plans off the ground.Miles has potential to earn a few more quid from the game. He and all of Gloucestershire’s bowlers are capable of moving the ball either in the air or off the pitch but maintaining a consistent line and creating pressure has proved a major difficulty. They have leaked far too many runs too quickly.But here there was control not seen since Jon Lewis left the club two years ago. There were few four balls, they put together successive maidens and created sufficient pressure to force several loose strokes.The opening 10 overs was a textbook period of cricket with the new ball. George Bailey attempted a second lavish cover drive in three balls and was bowled,Sean Ervine mistimed a drive and chipped to point, Chris Wood popped a catch up to mid-on and Adam Wheater swung across the line to be lbw to Jack Taylor. Indiscipline with the bat it may have been but Gloucestershire deserved much of their success. Miles’ second wicket of his three was a good delivery, nipping back to have James Vince lbw.Miles, born in Swindon, is one of a number of academy products creeping into the first XI out of necessity. A lack of available finance for the playing staff and a bad injury situation has given several Gloucestershire youngsters opportunities that might not have existed five years ago.He was called up last week against Leicestershire as the last fit bowler available. Currently Ian Saxelby, James Fuller, Liam Norwell and Paul Muchall are sidelined. You can therefore imagine the fear of the home supporters when Gidman left the field after tumbling in his follow-through. But it was a precautionary rest, described as an “ankle twinge” which Gloucestershire are not too concerned about.Before his early departure Gidman had bowled a fine opening spell – 8-2-10-2 – which in partnership with David Payne gave very little away. Miles then replaced Gidman to do the majority of the damage before rain, and Adams, prevented Gloucestershire closing out the Hampshire first innings on day one.
